Egg Carton Swap - Reveal

It's time to reveal the Easter treats that I received from the egg carton swap hosted by Cassandra of An Artful Adventure. I had two FABULOUS swap partners.
The first was Mercedes of All Things Pretty. WOW! "All Things Pretty" sums up what I received. To start off, the carton was adorned with the most adorable bunny with lots of frilly trimming. Now this is what a girl wants to see on Easter morning. The soft colors remind me of the perfect spring day.

The carton was loaded with fabulous vintage treasures.

I love and collect vintage cupcake toppers & picks. I adore the little pastel Easter picks.The vintage buttons are on the prettiest original 'Luckyday' card. Fabulous beads, lace, wallpaper and a spool of silk thread in spring colors.

Loads of millinery flowers.

I can't contain myself ... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this vintage bunny figurine made in Japan. And it's a red head! My favorite.


I adore anything handmade. Look at this turquoise crochet bunny. So cute!

I also collect vintage greeting cards. This Easter card is so beautiful with the purple iris. I don't know what it is about the cards from back-in-the-day. The verses, writing and images are so romantic. But my favorite is the little egg adorned with vintage velvet and millinery flowers. It is so beautiful. My second swap partner was Denise of PinkPomegranate. Denis created the most beautiful, shabby chic, feminine carton in beautiful shades of pink and green.

Not only was the carton beautiful, but it was filled to the brim, and overflowing with fabulous vintage treasures.



Oh my goodness! Where do I start?  The frozen charlotte doll, the romantic pill box, the vintage earring, the little doll shoe (...scream). Vintage ribbon, wallpaper, millinery flowers and a vintage spool with thread in the prettiest shade of pink.

I also received lots of vintage paper and images. I LOVE this image of the ladies wearing vintage hats.

Mercedes and Denise are so talented and generous. Thank you ladies. You truely spoiled me. I hope our paths cross again somewhere along our creative journey.

Easter Treats - Egg Carton Swap

Cassandra of An Artful Adventure recently hosted an Easter treats egg carton swap.  I signed up right away. Cassandra’s swaps are so much fun. She always comes up with great ideas to get our creative juices flowing.The general idea was to use a half/dozen paper egg carton. Here is an example that Cassandra provided on her blog.

Decorate and/or embellish it.
Then fill with fabulous vintage treats for our swap partners. Each participant had 2 swap partners.
Here are a few pictures of the cartons that I made for my swap partners. The first carton was filled with treats in shades of pastel pink and yellow.


The second carton was filled with pastel blue treats.

I tied a vintage postcard on top of each cartons, along with a vintage glove.

Such Pretty Things

I love checking out beautiful blogs. One of my favorite blogs is Such Pretty Things. Jessica is SO talented. She always has beautiful photographs and amazing, creative ideas. I was so happy to see her latest post where she showed how she made beautiful Valentine sweets/party favors. I was looking for something that I could make for family and friends that was beautiful, quick and easy. Don't you just love people that share their creations? Especially when they include easy to follow step-by-step instructions and source information so you will know exactly where to find the supplies. Thank you Jessica so much for sharing your lovely creations. Here is my version of Jessica's rock candy sticks.

Party City carries the rock candy sticks in just about every color of the rainbow.

These make a great little gift. They are perfect to stir into a hot cup of tea for a sweet afternoon break. They are also perfect dropped into a tall glass of cold iced tea, or lemonade. Ahhh...

Christmas Greetings

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and some time to spend with family and friends. How quickly it has come and gone. Each year my sisters Robin, Sherry and I make handmade gifts to exchange. I thought I would take a few minutes to share some of the gifts I made. This year I gave handmade necklaces.
For Robin, I purchased this cute postcard from Pretty Girl Postcard’s Etsy shop to decorate the package.  I forgot to take pictures, but I embellished a gift bag with this card, and then added a large red millinery rose, lace and trim.

I named the necklace I gave Robin “Dollie Lee”. Dollie Lee was my grandmother. This necklace is supposed to resemble her. This is a picture of my grandmother. I wrapped this picture around the actual gift box.

The necklace is made from a vintage half-doll figurine. My grandmother won a contest by coming up with a slogan for the Atlanta Transit Company many years ago. The winning slogan was “Going Your Way Every Day”. I added one of the trolley tokens to the necklace. You can read more about my grandmother and the winning slogan here in a previous post. The necklace also includes a garter strap, vintage buttons, pins, and embellishments.

This is the necklace I gave Sherry. She loves crosses. I also added one of the trolley tokens on her necklace.

I made Sherry a gift box from an old cigar box. I covered the box with vintage postcards that reminded me of her boys, Christopher and Adam. I embellished the box with sayings about boys. Again, I forgot to take pictures of the inside of the box. Inside were images that reminded me of Sherry and her boys.
By coincidence, all three of us also made each other a gift using vintage bottles.  This is the “thing” I made Sherry. I used bisque doll heads, a vintage powder compact and miniature perfume bottles. I filled the bottles with glitter to resemble sugar, because her boys ARE sweeter than sugar. The final product looks best under a glass cloche dome. I will let Sherry add that on her end. I didn’t want to try to ship it for fear of breaking the dome.

These are salt dough ornaments that I purchased from Atelier Denise’s Etsy site. I gave them to my niece Violet (Robin’s daughter). Violet sings/performs Opera. I emailed pictures of Violet to Denise and WOW … what an amazing resemblance she created. Even the backs of the ornaments are painted. She was able to capture every detail.

Finally, here a few of the “Away In a Manger” ornaments that I made my cousins Jeanie and Joann. I made them using animals from a vintage nativity scene. I added a tag that has the song “Away In a Manger” printed on it.

Handmade Christmas Ornament Swap - Reveal

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.  I recently participated in a handmade ornament swap hosted by the talented Cassandra VanCuren of An Artful Adventure. Cassandra is a talented artist who designs digital collage art, handcrafted jewelry, and just about every type of mixed media creations you can imagine. Cassandra has developed a unique, soft, dreamy, feminine, romantic style that is all her own. Cassi’s creations have been featured in numerous publications. Cassandra generously shares her skills and techniques on everything from art projects, to decorating, and even including baking homemade macaroons. Cassandra also hosts artistic events. Each participant in the swap created three ornaments, for each of our three swap partners. We choose our favorite color pallet and theme. I participated in the pink/blue nature group.

I apologize in advance for the following lousy photos. I took photos of the ornaments that I received, on a cloudy day. I haven’t finished my Christmas decorating yet, but I couldn’t wait to show you the fabulous ornaments that I received. The photos in no way represent how truly lovely and detailed these ornaments are.

My first swap partner was Debra Huntsman of Life in My Studio. The ornaments are ADORABLE! Just look at the precious snowman & snowwoman. I love his hat! The snowflakes and beads are SO pretty. So girly…




My second swap partner was Sarah Elder of My So Called Junky Life. I was lucky enough to have Sarah as a stocking swap partner last year. Somehow Sarah always creates treasures that are PERFECT for me.  She pegs my style perfectly. This gorgeous Christmas scene will blend in anywhere within my Christmas décor. I love this “old world with bling” style.


My third swap partner was Cassandra, swap hostess. Cassi’s creations don’t even need a tag. You can look at any of her creations and know that she created it. Just look at the face of this PRECIOUS bird. How sweet! The faux cookie looks good enough to eat.



This swap was so much fun. Thank you ladies for all of the wonderful treasures that you created. It started off the Christmas season by bringing me joy and happiness. I will truly enjoy these lovely ornaments for years to come.
